Spent last Friday through Monday in the high Uinta Mountains here in Utah, chasing elk with a bow. Or was I? Didn't see one until Monday morning when we ultimately got within about 120 to 150 yards, but couldn't get him in any closer. But we saw 5 moose, around 8 or 10 mule deer, including 2 nice bucks, shot some grouse (yummy), and enjoyed some of the most beautiful country on the planet. Averaged about 6 miles a day, much of it above 10,000 feet. Not bad for an old man! Thanks to Shane Price for joining me on the hunt. A Stabil-Eyes fan who did most of the spotting of animals on this trip.
Me using Stabil-Eyes to survey a meadow, lookin' for that giant bull elk.
Shane and I both shot grouse for dinner. (His died!)
Lookie there! Moose afield! Want to see the "Bullwinkle" that went with this cow? Watch here… https://youtu.be/GwlA6vx7qoY
Shane Price… one of the finest young men I know. He's also one of the first purchasers of Stabil-Eyes. Here he's using a prototype. Expecting delivery of 1,000 units sometime in the next 30 days.

This li'l muley walked right in to about 35 yards. We stood there looking at each other for about 10 minutes. Click the link above to catch about 36 seconds of our watch.
All in all, a great little trip, although it was cut way short. Originally scheduled for 10 days, circumstances cut it to 4. We found our elk on the last day and if we could have had the other 6, I'm confident we'd have found more, and had a chance to call one in for a shot. Oh well… there's always the extended archery season!
