At the Defense & Security on the Trail educational session at last Friday's Western Hunting & Conservation Expo, presenters Kevin Estella (with the flag) and Doc Nate Jones of Fieldcraft Survival, had us pause to salute the flag before they got into their content.
I thought that was very cool. They didn't have to do it. Nobody would have missed it if they didn't. No other session did it to my knowledge. But they did it in homage to those who have sacrificed so much for our country, and I was proud to stand and salute the flag with them.
Thanks for setting such a great example guys…
As for what they had to say…
Universale rules exist for any conflict. What applies to self-defense training in the street will also apply in the great outdoors. These guys taught us about the trade offs made when selecting equipment, making decisions for camping and trails taken, and when options disappear making scenarious dire. Defending yourself and your loved ones is your ultimate responsibility.
